Internet safety. For a responsible and respectful use
Talking about Internet security is vital so that adults and children can enjoy the Internet in a safe and respectful way. In a year in which connectivity has been vital to our daily personal and work lives, promoting responsible, safe and positive use of technology acquires greater relevance.
For this reason, from ANOVO, we want to join the Safe
Internet Day . A day that is eminent every year in February around the world
and that this year proposes as its motto: “'A better Internet starts with you:
more connected, safer”. As a curious anecdote, the day chosen for this party
always coincides with the another day of the second week of the second calendar
month of the year.
From the National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE) they
propose a series of activities for this day that, this year, due near the
pandemic, will be carried out online with broadcasting. These activities are
aimed not only at the educational field, but also at families and all those who
wish to join in order to promote Internet safety in their environment.
Taking action to ensure that the Internet becomes a safe and
positive space in which users make responsible use of technology promoting
respect and creativity is everyone's job. A task that acquires greater
relevance taking into account the use that children and young people make of
the Internet, for example, with the growth of e-learning , as we saw in a
previous article.
Internet safety is everyone's job
To work, learn, have fun… We all use technology today. For
this reason, we must be aware of some of the threats that can be found on the
Internet and spread them to ensure that everyone can enjoy a Safe Internet.
Some recommendations to contribute to Internet safety are
1.Remember that in your environment you can become an
example to follow. Teach good habits and respect others by always acting
prudently on the Internet.
2.Protect your information . Establish a strong and secret
password for your social profiles, your email accounts or every time you
register on a platform or online store. If you do not use the same password on
all platforms and change it frequently, you will have more security.
3.Be cautious . Think before opening an email or making an
online purchase on an unknown platform. Make sure that the sender is known
before opening it, do not access links that are not secure (see that the
address appears https instead of http) and do not participate in the dissemination
of chain messages.
4.If you have a family, accompany the less technologically
initiated , whether they are children or adults. Share your cybersecurity
knowledge and tricks with them and participate in their digital learning by
helping them participate on the Internet safely.
Tools to promote cybersecurity
If you need some resources to implement good cybersecurity
practices at the family or individual level, consult the following links:

Kids), the Internet Safety Center for minors in Spain coordinated by SEDIA
(Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence). See guide

•Cybersecurity Trivial . A game that you can build yourself
and that tests your knowledge (and that of the rest of the players) about
security. This game has been created by the Internet User Security Office as
part of the National Cybersecurity Institute. Access the game.
